New Month...

...
While today looks great 'weather wise' I am amazed at how quickly things can and will change.

How was your Thanksgiving? I had a great trip to NYC to join my two oldest children; Kristin and Lauren for a little "surprise" get together in the big apple. Yes, I rode a subway. Times Square is crazy as ever, especially at night. Am told the locals stay away, kinda like Memphis and Graceland. It's for the tourists, but man is it pretty.

Still have a couple of kittens left. Time for them to go. I will be wrapping them up and dropping them off at your door step on Christmas morning, if you don't step up now.

In football, the Colts and the Saints remain perfect. The Vikings are looking very good with Favre at the helm. There really are, only a handful of good teams in the NFL this year. I'd be surprised if one of those 3 are not Superbowl winners. (I, of course, continue to be amazed by the under dog heroics of number 4)

It's December, Christmas is just around the corner, maybe it's because I'm getting older, but it just doesn't seem to have the same allure it once did. Is it the commercialization? Spoiled kids? They just don't seem to appreciate what they have, as much, anymore. Maybe I'm becoming a curmudgeon. (spelling?)

I think with all that is going on in the world, and in your life, priorities have changed. Are you sound financially and emotionally? Are the kids well clothed, behaved, healthy and getting a good education? It' frustrating, when you want to give more, but simply can't. Maybe this is the year we "give of ourselves." We go and help those less fortunate. We volunteer, we go give blood. I think there are other ways of giving, that can bring you happiness.

Sun is back

...
The is sun is back out and shining.

The Shuttle is safely in space docked with the ISS

Most of the kittens will have new homes shortly, (still a couple left for Christmas!)

Time for a brighter day.

I'm thinking "hot tub" at DAC.

Maybe a few laps around the track.

Staying positive

...
It is becoming more and more difficult "not" to be cynical in this world. This latest story with the little 5-year old girl in North Carolina, apparently her mother sold her into something unspeakable. She's dead now.

Two teachers in the county I live are now accused of abusing their power and with more unspeakable things with minors. One worked at a school that hits too close to home.

In the news this morning a teacher in Georgia allegedly put out a "hit" on a student, of course, his lawyer says it was just a joke.

Then the unfinished resolution to the Somer Thompson case in my hometown of Orange Park.

How about that guy who supposedly raped and killed and buried his victims in his home and yard.

Sometimes, it's just more than I can handle. Do I just keep my kids from watching anything but Hannah and Sponge-bob? I don't want them watching the news, the questions they ask will be too difficult to answer. What do you tell them?

What is this world coming to? What happens in our society that create these monsters?

It's all too much to ignore, but I try, for my own sanity.

Being in the news business, one is surrounded by this stink on a daily basis.

Some days, I can't wait to get home and clean up, with hugs from my children.
